TC-P65ST60 vs TC-P65S60; TC-P60ST60 vs TC-P60S60, TC-P55ST60 vs TC-P55S60; TC-P50ST60 vs TC-P50S60

The main disadvantage of the Panasonic S60 in comparison to the ST60 is the lack of anti-reflective filter, which makes the former less suitable for use in bright environments. However, under light-controlled conditions, the black level-related variations between them are mostly diminished. That said, a few differences remain:
  • The ST60 has twice the gradation steps of its counterpart, which leads to an improvement in the color reproduction, and in particular: in the subtlety and the richness of the colors.
  • The panel driving method used by the S60 is of the Sub-Filed variety, where there are 10 sub-fileds per frame, and with 60 frames per second, the result is 600Hz SFD. The step-up model uses the more advanced Focused-Field Drive, which packs the ten sub-fields into 1/2500th of a second, hence the motion is even better in case of the 2500Hz FFD, which the ST60 employs, so that any sporting event and action-movie you watch is without any trace of motion blur.
  • While the the S60 lacks any 3D functionality, its opponent is equipped with the active 3D system.
  • The ST60 has a full-fledged Smart TV platform, with features such as: a customizable Home Screen, which gives you a quick access to your favorite applications and functions; the Swipe and Share 2.0 and the Viera Remote App 2.0 allow you to easily share content from your mobile device to the TV, and vice-versa. There is also a web browser. On the other hand, the step-down model only offers a very limited number of apps for accessing different streaming services, in addition to boasting DLNA capabilities. Just as it's higher-end counterpart, the S60 has a built-in Wi-Fi and an Etherner port, so you can easily connect your TV to the Internet either wirelessly or wired.
  • Although both have 2 USB ports each, the HDMI inputs on the ST60 are three vs two its opponent.
  • The speaker configuration on the ST60 is 2.1, due to the included sub-woofer, which is omitted from its rival. However, the total audio power output is equal on both: 20W.
